Job summary

Layton Construction in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an Energy Marshal to lead energization and isolation activities on commercial construction sites. The role focuses on energy isolation standards, auditing practices, and guiding teams through complex electrical systems.

You will act as SME for energy isolation, review LOTO programs, participate in safety meetings, and drive continuous improvement with project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in energy isolation, safety, or a related field.
• NFPA 70E Certification.
• Experience with DC construction and commissioning standards and practices.
• Ability to understand and ensure the safe installation of electrical equipment across various voltages (AC/DC).
• Ability to collaborate with teams to drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures safety and integrity by promoting honest, unified and quality work practices.
• Oversees commissioning from pre-energization through project turnover.
• Manage electrical room access permits and attendance.
• Verify compliance with safe work practices during energization and isolation activities.
• Review commission plans and quality reports.
• Perform pre-energization inspections.
• Own the LOTO program on site.
• Audit energy isolation procedures for safety and efficiency.
• Serve as SME for energy isolation and guide teams.
• Attend HRA/JHA meetings and support procedure prep for Energy Isolation.
• Partner with project teams to implement continuous improvements.
• Explain complex energy concepts to engineers and non-engineers.
• Audit site practices against standards.
