Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Energy Marshal to ensure safe energization and isolation activities on data center and commercial construction projects. The role centers on energy isolation procedures, auditing practices, and expert guidance on standards, requiring a strong safety background and technical energy isolation expertise.

You will lead commissioning from pre-energization through turnover, manage electrical room access, verify plans, review quality reports, and maintain the LOTO

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years in energy isolation, safety, or a related field.
• NFPA 70E Certification.
• Experience with DC construction and commissioning standards and practices.
• Ability to understand and ensure safe installation of electrical equipment across voltages (AC/DC).
• Strong communication skills and auditing experience against standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities from pre-energization through project turnover.
• Manage electrical room access permits and attendance.
• Ensure safe work practices during energization and isolation activities.
• Verify the commissioning plan and review quality reports.
• Perform pre-energization inspections and maintain the LOTO program.
• Attend HRA/JHA meetings and provide energy isolation guidance.
• Collaborate with project teams to drive continuous safety improvements.
• Communicate complex energy concepts to engineers and non-engineers.
