Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Data Center Deployment Engineer to lead on-site server, rack, and cabling installs in customer data centers across various sites in the United States. The role requires extensive travel (minimum 50%), hands-on hardware installation, and strong coordination with customers and vendors to ensure flawless deployments.

You will configure network gear, verify cabling layouts, and document installation details while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in data center server, rack, and cabling deployments.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools for hardware installation.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and customer-facing communication.
• Willingness to travel frequently (minimum 50%).

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer data centers to perform hardware installations.
• Rack and stack server hardware according to guidelines.
• Participate in rack elevation, cable layout, and rack location reviews.
• Deploy and oversee vendor coordination during power commissioning.
• Serve as on-site technical point of contact with customers and vendors.
• Install and configure network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls).
• Ensure clean cable pathways, proper labeling, and accurate records.
• Troubleshoot hardware and cabling issues during installation.
• Communicate installation status and coordinate schedules with customer teams.
• Plan travel logistics and manage related expenses.
