Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Controls Design Engineer in Seattle to join a global data center team responsible for control, automation and electrical power monitoring systems. You will work with senior engineers to drive standardization across production data centers and address complex technical issues.

You will influence design decisions, develop documentation, and collaborate with regional vendors to specify equipment, enabling scalable, secure and efficient data centers for AWS

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience.
• 3+ years experience with electrical diagrams and electrical distribution systems.
• 3+ years experience with industrial controls systems.
• Experience with power monitoring and SCADA systems.
• Experience with Modbus protocol.

Responsibilities

• Produce clear design documentation such as detailed design specifications, drawings, white papers, wiring schematics and diagrams, and reports.
• Safeguard implementation of the Global Controls (Electrical and Mechanical) Basis of Design (BoD) by driving standardization in the data center controls designs.
• Development of strategic solutions, which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements.
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during innovation and research and development projects.
• Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
