Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to lead daily field operations for data-center and mission-critical projects, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage look-ahead planning and sequencing, and partner with the Superintendent to meet milestone commitments.

The role requires at least 7 years of construction leadership, OSHA 30, and strong skills in scheduling, field coordination, and problem-solving across complex trades

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; construction management or related coursework preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of construction experience with increasing field leadership responsibility, preferably with a general contractor, prime integrator or complex trade contractor.
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Industrial construction and modular construction experience preferred.
• Experience leading work on data center, manufacturing, mission critical or other technically complex projects preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of construction methods, site logistics, scheduling, safety, quality, contract documents and field coordination.
• Ability to lead subcontractors, vendors and multiple trades and translate project plans into clear daily and weekly expectations.
• Experience with look-ahead planning, pull planning, RFIs, submittals, change events, inspections, commissioning and punch list management.
• Ability to identify and resolve routine field and constructability issues and make sound decisions within assigned authority.
• Strong field leadership, communication, organization, accountability and practical problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with project management, scheduling, daily reporting, model coordination or field technology platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations for an assigned area or smaller project, including logistics, staffing, deliveries, inspections and sequencing.
• Own short-interval planning and look-ahead execution for assigned work, including sequencing and milestone alignment.
• Lead subcontractor coordination and field-planning discussions; ensure trade partners understand safety, quality, schedule and staffing expectations.
• Drive jobsite safety by setting expectations and partnering with safety professionals and trade partners on incident-prevention activities.
• Ensure quality standards and acceptance criteria; coordinate inspections and corrective actions.
• Review contracts and coordination documents to identify field conflicts and schedule impacts; lead issue resolution.
• Partner with the Superintendent and Construction Manager on field status, schedule updates, change conditions, cost impacts and risk mitigation.
• Maintain field records and support commissioning, testing, turnover, punch lists and closeouts for assigned scopes.
