Job description

Build data centers that can’t go down

You live for the moment the red tag comes off and a mission-critical data center goes live without a hitch. In this role, you own that moment from day one.

You’ll lead full life-cycle commissioning for high-impact data center projects, making sure every system is planned, tested, validated, and documented to perform exactly as designed.

Power, cooling, controls, life safety – you pull it all together.

If you’ve commissioned complex data centers or mission-critical facilities and want to run the show, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Work On

You’ll be the go-to commissioning lead for large, mission-critical data center builds:

  • Full Level 1–5 commissioning for data center projects
  • Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems
  • Fire and life safety systems
  • Controls and monitoring systems
  • Integrated systems testing (IST)
  • Factory witness testing (FWT)
  • Site acceptance testing (SAT)
  • Turnover, client training, and operational readiness

Your mission: prove these facilities can take the load, stay online, and meet every requirement before the first customer ever plugs in.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading the full life-cycle commissioning process for mission-critical data center projects (Level 1–5)
  • Developing and managing commissioning plans, schedules, and test scripts
  • Coordinating daily with design engineers, construction teams, vendors, and clients
  • Overseeing MEP, fire/life safety, controls, and integrated systems testing
  • Ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Managing FWT, SAT, and IST activities through successful completion
  • Reviewing and approving commissioning documentation, reports, and turnover packages
  • Identifying risks and deficiencies, driving issues to resolution and closeout
  • Supporting client training, handover, and operational readiness
  • Providing leadership and mentorship to commissioning engineers and agents
  • Performing regular site walkdowns in active construction environments
  • Supporting night and weekend testing events during critical phases
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in data center commissioning or mission-critical facilities
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in data centers
  • Experience with integrated systems testing and phased commissioning
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, CCP, ASHRAE CPMP, LEED AP, CxA, or similar are a plus
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE, and Uptime Institute standards preferred
The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention

You’ve been the commissioning authority on hyperscale or colocation data centers, comfortable owning FWT, SAT, and IST across power and cooling. You know what “mission-critical” really feels like when energization and load bank tests hit at 2 a.m.

You bring a strong documentation mindset, clear reporting, and the ability to walk into a room of owners, GC, and trades and calmly lead them through complex testing and turnover.

Why This Opportunity?

This is a field-based role where you are on the front lines of building the infrastructure that keeps our connected society running. Your work directly impacts uptime, reliability, and performance for end users who can’t afford downtime.

You’ll step into a visible, high-responsibility position, leading commissioning on complex projects and mentoring other commissioning professionals along the way.

On top of that, you get strong compensation, comprehensive health benefits, retirement plans, paid time off, a company credit card for qualified travel expenses, NFPA 70E Arc Flash training, and support for professional development and certifications.

Must maintain permanent residence in CONUS with access to a primary airport for weekly travel

Must have a valid US driver’s license

Must be able to work in construction/industrial environments, including confined spaces, varying temperatures, and at heights (ladders, stairs, scaffolding)

Must be able to support night shift and weekend testing events, and extended hours during critical project phases
