Job summary

Quality Technology Services, LLC in Ashburn, VA is seeking a Commissioning Engineer II to lead and execute commissioning across data center base building systems and Building Management/Automation Systems. This role involves planning, testing, documentation, and cross-functional coordination with construction teams and third-party commissioning agents.

The position requires 75% travel to other sites in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Five+ years of work experience in data center engineering, commissioning, or project management.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all site construction activity and installations, coordinating with QTS Development Team and external resources.
• Develop commissioning plans for Level 1–5 systems including connectivity, security, life safety and electrical/mechanical components.
• Conduct commissioning activities ensuring systems are installed, tested, and validated per industry standards and client specs.
• Identify, track, and resolve issues during commissioning; provide feedback to program management for continuous improvement.
• Create and review commissioning documentation including test procedures, reports, and as-built docs.
• Witness testing of equipment and validate SOP sequences; ensure documentation receipt of operations docs.
• Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, contractors, and facilities operations for seamless integration.
• Implement quality control per regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Develop SOPs, MOPs, and ERP in coordination with facilities operations.
• Provide training to end-users and maintenance personnel on operated systems.
