Job summary

QTS Data Centers seeks a Commissioning Engineer II to lead complex commissioning of base building and data center systems, including electrical, mechanical, and BMS components. The role may travel up to 75% across U.S. sites and will coordinate with teams and a third-party commissioning agent.

US citizenship is required by law due to federal contracts; the candidate should be prepared for nights/weekends as needed and join a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
• Five+ years of experience in data center engineering, commissioning, or project management.
• Background in CCTV, access control, networking, telecommunications, and fire detection/suppression systems.
• Ability to travel to other Data Center locations as required.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• US Citizenship required by law due to federal contracts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in site construction activity and installations to meet standards.
• Develop commissioning plans for L1–L5 systems including electrical, mechanical, and BMS components.
• Conduct commissioning activities and validate all systems per standards and client specs.
• Identify and resolve issues during commissioning with project teams.
• Create and review commissioning documentation including test procedures and reports.
• Witness equipment testing and validate sequences of operations.
• Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, contractors, and facilities operations.
• Implement QC measures to meet regulatory and industry standards.
• Develop SOP/MOP/ERP in coordination with facilities operations.
• Provide end-user training on operation and maintenance of commissioned systems.
• Follow Change Management processes for maintenance approvals and documentation.
