Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Civil Engineer to join the Americas Design Engineering team.

You will lead civil design for prototype data center sites across Columbus, Seattle, and Herndon, collaborating with architects, engineers, and designers to solve complex site challenges. In this role, you will guide external consultants, review site layouts, coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams, develop Civil 3D concepts, and create design standards and RFPs while traveling

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial, warehouse, and/or industrial site-civil design experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development and into deployment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage external civil design consultants through the Data Center design and construction process.
• Review designs for site layout, grading, power substations, storm water, and utilities.
• Coordinate with internal and external architectural, structural, and MEP design engineers.
• Develop preliminary site layout concepts using Civil 3D, incorporating grading, utilities, and circulation patterns.
• Effectively communicate design standards to internal and external project partners.
• Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction.
• Develop and maintain design standards, design prototypes, and template specifications related to site design for Data Centers and supporting infrastructure.
• Create, review, and release design RFPs for various projects, including DCs and special program facilities.
• Manage multiple fast paced projects simultaneously. Foresee and manage TPM’s expectations regarding cost and schedules.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with authorities having jurisdiction.
