Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Civil Engineer for the DC Land Development Strategy within the Global Engineering Strategy team to drive front end engineering and design strategy for new owned and leased site developments.

You will lead due diligence for new regions, site master planning, and collaboration with Real Estate, Power, Environment, and related teams to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient data center designs across multiple geographies with occasional travel.

Qualifications

6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
Knowledge of continuously operating electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment, and building management systems.
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with internal stakeholders during the due diligence phase to oversee the process and ensure design requirements are considered.
Gather data to ensure prerequisites for start of design stage are met.
Lead the predesign phase, manage internal partners and external vendor consultants, ensure design-ready deliverables are completed.
Rollout strategy of new data center design types and intercepts impacting site master plans and design strategy.
Provide engineering design decisions to partner teams for strategic planning and region selection.
Collaborate with other DCE teams to develop new data center infrastructure products and design execution disciplines.
