Job summary

Black Box Network Services is seeking a Network Infrastructure Technician to install, test, and certify structured and patch panel cabling in a data center environment. The role requires experience with high-speed optical and copper cabling, IEEE/BICSI standards, and performing layer 1 troubleshooting.

The position is hourly and will require lifting heavy objects, with shift work including evenings. You will work to support facilities, project engagement, and customer satisfaction by delivering

Qualifications

  • 2-5 yrs experience in cabling or data centers.
  • Experience with structured cabling and fiber/copper deployments.
  • Familiarity with IEEE and BICSI cabling standards.
  • Experience using Fluke Versiv for testing.
  • Ability to work in data center environments and lifts heavy objects.

Responsibilities

  • Patching cabling between network equipment and customer networks.
  • Install power cables from equipment to power supply in racks/cabinets.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and de-install network equipment.
  • Install and swap cables, switches, and routers.
  • Complete MAC requests within service levels.
  • Provide cabling break-fix services for network infrastructure.
  • Perform layer 1 troubleshooting and support carrier testing.
  • Collaborate with facilities and project teams as needed.
