Mott MacDonald is seeking a Data Center Architectural Design Lead to provide senior leadership across the architectural planning, design, and delivery of large-scale data center facilities in North America. You will drive design strategy, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and client engagement to ensure resilient, scalable, and secure environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Architecture; Registered Architect preferred.
• 20+ years of experience leading architectural design for data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience with hyperscale, cloud, AI, or enterprise data center environments.
• Strong knowledge of data center planning, space programming, building configuration, and code compliance.
• Familiarity with North American building codes and sustainability frameworks.
• Excellent communication and leadership in client-facing roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design strategy for major data center projects across North America.
• Provide architectural leadership from feasibility to handover, including design governance.
• Develop building and campus solutions for resilience, scalability, and security.
• Coordinate with MEP, structural, civil, telecoms, and security teams for integrated delivery.
• Mentor architects and designers; support recruitment and capability development.
• Represent the organization with clients, contractors, and authorities at senior levels.
