Job summary

Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company in West Des Moines, IA is seeking an undergraduate for its 2027 Summer Internship Program. This paid internship runs May 17 through August 6, up to 40 hours per week, with potential to transition to full-time later.

Responsibilities

• Follows all established principles, standards, and processes that guide data decisions for the enterprise.
• Implements data model changes as needed to support user and application requirements, generates DDL scripts, and implements database changes with focus on data integrity, efficiency, and quality.
• Produces and runs data scripts to load data, correct data issues, and extract data as directed.
• Communicates with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Lead Developers, and the business community as needed to clarify requirements, report progress, and resolve issues.
• Accomplishes other tasks and duties as assigned.

Farmers Mutual Hail (located in West Des Moines, IA) is currently looking for a qualified undergraduate to join our 2027 Summer Internship Program.This is a paid internship starting Monday, May 17 through Friday, August 6, working up to 40 hours per week for the summer, with the potential to turn into a full-time, permanent position in the future.

We are looking for currently-enrolled college students who are close to the West Des Moines area, as this is not a remote internship.

Requirements

Education: Must be a currently-enrolled sophomore, junior or senior at an undergraduate college or university, majoring in Computer Science, Data Science, MIS or related technical field (May 2027 graduates will not be eligible).

Skills: Exposure to SQL or PL/SQL a plus. Exposure to data structures or database management is a plus.

• Implements data model changes as needed to support user and application requirements, generates database definition language scripts, and implements database changes using the provided toolset with a focus on data integrity, efficiency, and quality.
• Produces and runs data scripts to load data, correct data issues, and extracts data as directed.
• Communicates with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Lead Developers, and the business community as needed to clarify requirements, report work progress, and resolve issues.
• Accomplishes other tasks and duties as assigned.
