Job summary

Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company (FMH) in West Des Moines, IA, is seeking an undergraduate for its 2027 Summer Internship Program. This paid internship runs May 17 to August 6, up to 40 hours per week, with potential to transition to a full-time position.

Candidates must be enrolled as sophomores, juniors or seniors in MIS, Computer Science, Business or related fields, with strong organization, time management and customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently-enrolled sophomore, junior or senior at an undergraduate college or university majoring in MIS, Computer Science, Business or related degree.
  • May 2027 graduates will not be eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with creating and refining user stories by incorporating feedback from the business; develops requirements to ensure the team meets business needs.
  • Participates in Agile Scrum ceremonies including Daily Stand-Ups, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Planning, Sprint Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement Sessions.
  • Assists Product Owners with discovery process on projects.
  • Assists with managing and prioritizing of product backlog.
  • Assists with managing and prioritizing of defect and system support work.
  • Observes how to communicate between Agile/Project Teams and key stakeholders.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Farmers Mutual Hail (located in West Des Moines, IA) is currently looking for a qualified undergraduate to join our 2027 Summer Internship Program. This is a paid internship starting Monday, May 17 through Friday, August 6, working up to 40 hours per week for the summer, with the potential to turn into a full-time, permanent position in the future.

We are looking for currently-enrolled college students who are close to the West Des Moines area, as this is not a remote internship.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Must be a currently-enrolled sophomore, junior or senior at an undergraduate college or university majoring in MIS, Computer Science, Business or related degree. (May 2027 graduates will not be eligible).

Skills: Good organization, time management, customer service and skills.
