Job summary

SEACORP seeks a Software Engineer for the Data Analytics Team to design, build, and test software and data systems behind the SWFTS program for the U.S. Navy submarine fleet.

You will join a multidisciplinary team of SEACORP and government engineers delivering services that move, store, and deliver data for advanced platforms. Key duties include coding in Java, Python, and C++, developing databases and APIs, and participating in Agile rituals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Graduating seniors and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Master’s degree in a related technical field.
• Software Engineer I: 0 years of experience; II: 3 years; III & IV: 10 years.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or C++; ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Able to collaborate with others while handling independent tasking; strong communication.
• Exposure to SQL or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
• REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and data frameworks like Kafka and Spark.
• Willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies and platforms.
• Git, Linux, Jira, Confluence familiarity; internship or open-source experience encouraged.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools like VS Code AI extensions, Cursor, Claude Code.
• Distributed data platforms (Kafka, Spark), object storage (S3, Ceph), Kubernetes and cloud-native infra; AI/ML integration experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, integrate, and document software in Java, Python, and C++.
• Develop databases, middleware, APIs, and prototypes for Navy data systems.
• Participate in an Agile team with daily scrums, sprints, and demos.
• Use Git, Linux, and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) for development workflows.
• Learn modern data, cloud, and AI-assisted development technologies on the job.
