SEACORP is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Combat Systems team in Middletown, RI. The role focuses on developing, configuring and maintaining developer tools, pipelines, and Linux-based environments in a fast-paced, mission-critical setting.

The ideal candidate will have 2–10 years of software engineering experience, proficiency in C++/Java, Python or Bash scripting, and strong Linux skills. U.S. Citizenship is required. Travel is infrequent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent with CS focus.
• 2–10 years of software engineering experience, including design and integration testing.

Responsibilities

• Participates in Agile processes to deliver reliable software for mission-critical systems.
• Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software solving business and mission problems.
• Collaborates with management, software, systems, and test engineers to resolve issues.
• Self-motivated with strong communication to share solutions with the team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Job Summary

SEACORP’s Combat Systems Business Area is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Software/DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. The selected candidate will contribute to the development, management, and configuration of developer tools, pipelines and operating systems in a Linux environment. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers in a professional and technically focused environment.

Job Responsibilities Include

• Participates in an Agile development process to produce reliable software solutions for mission critical systems.
• Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business and mission problems.
• Participates in one or all of the software disciplines available including UI, Infrastructure and back-end development.
• Interfaces with Management, Software Engineers, Systems Engineers and Test Engineers to generate thorough investigations and solutions to problems.
• Is self-motivated to explore solutions to software issues and can communicate them with the team.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent engineering/technical degree with a concentration in computer science courses.

Experience: At least 2-10 years’ experience and proven performance in software engineering, including problem analysis and resolution, requirements analysis and definition, design, code, and integration testing.

Ideal Skills and Experience

• Proven knowledge and experience around object-oriented programming.
• Advanced Linux skills (RedHat Enterprise Linux preferred).
• Experience with Git/GitLab/GitTea.
• Experience with C++ and/or Java.
• Experience with Python or Bash Scripting
• Experience with networking a preferred.

As a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employees must hold U.S. Citizenship.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
