Job description

The Data & Analytics Manager is an internal advisor and integrator who helps United Way of Greater Knoxville (UWGK) departments get more value from their data. This role performs statistical analysis, modeling, and visualization on data that departments have already collected, identifying patterns and trends that inform decision-making, and advises on data structure, quality, and reporting practices across the organization. The Data & Analytics Manager partners closely with Directors and Program Managers, builds organizational data literacy, and helps connect data practices across departments and systems. Will adhere to UWGK principles and philosophy.

Description

Start your journey here:

The United Way of Greater Knoxville (UWGK) is part of a global organization that directly impacts our local communities. We are committed to fostering a collaborative culture where every team member feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute. Our work is rooted in making a meaningful impact, changing lives, and embracing the strengths of our community. YOU are an essential part of making our mission a reality. Join a team of great people, collaborate on meaningful work, and serve the communities you call home while you do it.

About the role

Do you like finding the story in a dataset, and then helping people act on it? As our Data & Analytics Manager, you'll be UWGK's in-house data advisor. You won't own anyone's systems. Instead, you'll work across every department to get more value from the data we already collect.

You'll run analyses, build dashboards, and help Directors and Program Managers decide what to measure and why. You'll also strengthen how data moves between our systems and help staff across the organization get comfortable using it. Your work will shape reports for leadership, our Board, and our funders, and it will help show how UWGK changes lives in Greater Knoxville.

What you'll do

Turn data into insight. Do statistical analysis and modeling on department data to find patterns and trends that inform decisions. Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations that non-technical audiences can understand. Look for ways to streamline or automate recurring reports.

Advise on data governance and architecture. Review existing data models and recommend improvements (conceptual, logical, and physical, including entity-relationship diagrams) that improve accuracy, consistency, and security. Advise departments and the Executive Leadership Team on data standards and best practices.

Connect departments. Be a thought partner to Directors and Managers. Work with Finance, Advancement, and Impact teams to ensure metrics, definitions, and reporting formats align across systems.

Support compliance and quality. Monitor programmatic compliance with federal, state, and grant-specific requirements. Advise on continuous quality improvement (CQI) practices, and create guidance and training tools for departments, Primary Partners, and subcontracted entities.

Measure and report impact. Work with Grant Administration, Finance, and Impact teams on grantor and external reporting. Combine internal and external data sources to better understand community needs and program performance. Write outcome and impact reports for leadership and the Board.

Build data literacy. Teach staff how to access, interpret, and use reports and dashboards. Represent UWGK's data practices at peer-learning sessions and external convenings.

How we think:

Our human capital is our most valuable asset. The collective sum of individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent that our employees bring to their work represents a significant part of our culture, reputation, and the organization's achievements.

When you join UWGK, you become a trusted advisor, collaborating with colleagues and community stakeholders to deliver actionable insights that drive meaningful, sustainable outcomes.

As a Thriving United Way, we are broadening our scope to include system-level work in Community Schools, Early Education, Economic Mobility, and Healthy Communities. We will continue to act as a nonprofit funder and supporter, but we will also advocate on a larger scale to create lasting, systemic change in our community.

Compensation

To model equitable hiring practices, UWGK strives to provide a reasonable compensation range for this role. This range includes factors such as skill set level, experience, training, licensure, and certifications. To support merit-based performance, UWGK typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the pay range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,000-$76,000/year.

As an equal opportunity employer, we want to empower all our teammates to succeed and grow. Please let us know if you require accommodation at any point during the recruitment process. We will be happy to assist.

UWGK participates in E-Verify. After a job offer is accepted, UWGK will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with information from each new hire's Form I-9 to confirm authorization to work in the United States. UWGK does not use E-Verify to pre-screen applicants and will not take adverse action against an employee because of a Tentative Nonconfirmation (TNC) while the employee is contesting it.
