Job summary

New York State Department of Health is seeking an Analytics and Research Unit Analyst (Data Analyst 1) to perform professional data analysis and support division-wide analytics for emergency medical services, trauma, and public health programs. The role develops analysis-ready datasets and produces reports, dashboards, and maps to inform policy and operations.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.
• Substitution: a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of general experience; a master’s degree may substitute for one year; a Ph.D. may substitute for two years.

Responsibilities

• Data Acquisition, Integration, Modeling, and Quality Assurance – translate questions into data elements, extract and link data, develop analysis-ready files, document data quality and methods.
• Data Analysis, Trend Identification, and Applied Research Support – perform descriptive statistics, time trends, geographic analysis, and exploratory analyses; support model development.
• Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Data Visualization – develop dashboards, reports, maps, and visualizations; draft requirements and validate outputs.
• Analytical Project Coordination, Data Standards, and Program Support – manage analytics projects, maintain documentation, and coordinate with stakeholders during incidents.
