Job summary

The State EMS Analytics and Research Unit Assistant (Data Analyst 1) supports division-wide analytics by analyzing both structured and unstructured data from programs, systems, and external sources to create analysis-ready datasets and generate reports, dashboards, visualizations, and findings for program management and policy development.

The State EMS Analytics and Research Unit Assistant (Data Analyst 1) performs professional data analysis and supports division-wide analytics for the Division of State Emergency Medical Services. The position extracts, aggregates, validates, and analyzes structured and unstructured data from Division programs, systems, and external sources to develop analysis-ready datasets and produce reports, dashboards, visualizations, and findings that support program management, policy development, and operational improvement. Working under the Analytics and Research Unit Manager, the analyst collaborates with subject-matter experts and technical staff to define analytical questions, perform assigned analyses, identify trends and patterns, and communicate findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

Key qualifications:

• Professional data analysis and modeling experience with structured and unstructured data
• Proficiency with data extraction, aggregation, linking, validation, and quality assurance methods
• Experience developing analysis-ready datasets and producing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations
• Ability to perform statistical analysis including descriptive statistics, trend identification, and exploratory data analysis
