Job summary

JANUS Research Group seeks a Data Science Specialist for the NAVAL Education and Training Command at NAS Pensacola, FL. The role analyzes data sources to generate insights, creates dashboards using Power Apps/Power BI, and guides learning centers in IMI content development.

You will validate curriculum data, deliver reports, and train users on NETC training systems, aligning operations with mission goals and improving program efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience in database maintenance and development in education or training environments.
  • Knowledge of developing and utilizing the Power Apps suite to design and implement custom workflows and dashboards to include task automation, multi-step approvals, data validation, and real-time reporting, with integration capabilities across tools such as SPO, Power BI, and Power Automate to drive efficiency, enhance collaboration, and support scalable solutions.
  • Knowledge of and work with, on a daily/regular basis, NETC training systems and curriculum data development systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, organize, and synthesize source material into well-written, concise learning products.
  • Ability to evaluate complex and disparate data sources, documents, and operational artifacts to derive actionable insights. Analyzes, synthesizes, and extrapolates knowledge to inform decision-making, identify trends, and propose innovative solutions aligned with organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work requirements to meet standard formatting, high-quality products, and submission timelines.
  • Perform comparative analysis of multiple data sheets/data sources concurrently daily and provide reports on data discrepancies, abnormalities, deltas, and overall data integrity.
  • Perform impact analysis on business requirements/processes to ensure alignment with the mission and training systems.
  • Working within NETC N73 branch, provide guidance to NETC learning centers with Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) content in troubleshooting, creating, and assisting with their eLearning content development.
  • Validate curriculum data across Navy systems to ensure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Create and deliver written reports, visualizations, dashboards, or data models based on data collected and analyzed using various tools such as MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Power Apps, Power BI, and SharePoint Online (SPO).
  • Provide periodic user training for NETC training systems.
  • Collect, categorize, and analyze data.
  • Use data visualization software and other data tools to present findings.
  • Provide business recommendations to stakeholders based on data analysis.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Target salary range: $68,000 - $72,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Objective

The Data Science Specialistadvises on the potential benefits/uses of automation to improve the efficiency of program operations; Analyzes a variety of data sources to provide data-driven insights to the organization to streamline processes; Analyzes and evaluates (on a quantitative and/or qualitative basis) the effectiveness of line program operations in meeting established goals and objectives; Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of organization based on data findings to improve operations; Analyzes management information requirements to develop program or administrative reporting systems including the systems specifications, data gathering and analytical techniques, and systems evaluation methodology.

Employment Status

Full-time (40 hours per week). Salaried. Exempt.

Work Environment and Travel
  • This position is at Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) on Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, FL. Qualified candidates should be local to Pensacola, FL, or surrounding areas to be considered for this position.
  • Ability to lift items and/or equipment up to 50 lbs. on limited occasions.
  • Travel up to 10% anticipated.
