Job summary

Altasciences in Everett, WA is seeking an Animal Research Technician to support regulated DART studies in a fast-paced CRO environment. You will handle rats and rabbits, collect samples, and assist with necropsy and endpoint assessments while upholding animal welfare and GLP standards.

The role requires hands-on experience with gestational models, strict adherence to protocols, and collaboration with study teams to meet project timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with laboratory animals in a research environment specific to gestational animal models and reproductive toxicology procedures.
• Ability to perform rat and rabbit handling and procedural techniques safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to accurately follow written protocols and SOPs.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Support regulatory DART studies in rats and rabbits (fertility, EFD, pre/postnatal development).
• Observe animals and report health, behavior, appetite, or well-being changes.
• Perform procedures per approved protocols, SOPs, and GLP requirements.
• Collect biological samples including blood and urine.
• Administer test materials and treatments via approved routes.
• Assist with anesthesia, sedation, catheter placement and other procedures.
• Assist with reproductive and developmental endpoint collection.
• Fetal, tissue and reproductive organ collection and fixation; basic necropsy tasks.
• Collaborate with Study Directors, Veterinary Services, and Operations teams.
• Cross-train and pursue ongoing skill development.
