We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Research Associate to join our team in Cambridge, MA. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience in research methodologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive impactful research projects.
What You'll Do:
- Organizes and performs pre-study activities (e.g. working with Contributing Scientists on protocol development, test article procurement, and animal ordering)
- Performs dose calculations and formulates dosing solutions
- Performs study procedures (dosing, clinical signs, body weights, blood collections, necropsy, and tissue collections) on mice and rats
- Uses Excel spreadsheets and/or other electronic data capture systems to collect study data
- Performs QC checks on study data
- Writes first drafts of study reports and works with Principal Investigators to complete study reports
- Uses Excel or GraphPad Prism to graph key study parameters
- Communicates effectively at group meetings, research meetings, or other meetings as assigned and manages conflict effectively
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations and adapts quickly to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager
What We're Looking For:
- BS in Biology or related field with at least 5 or more years of relevant experience in laboratory rodent (rats and mice) research with experience in conducting nonclinical drug discovery or development studies a plus
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to generate high quality data
- Proficiency in dose administration to rats and mice (SC, IV, PO, IT, and IM)
- Proficiency in blood collection techniques in rodents (e.g. tail vein, submandibular, and terminal collection)
- Ability to discern and document abnormal behavior and clinical signs in rats and mice
- Mathematics skills adequate for calculating dilutions and dose projection
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GraphPad Prism. Previous experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. Xybion, Provantis) a plus
- Knowledge of and adherence to all applicable Animal Welfare Guidelines
- Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) or Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification a plus
