Job summary

Qualifications

  • Perform procedures per approved protocols, SOPs, and GLP requirements.
  • Collect biological samples including blood and urine.
  • Administer test materials and treatments via approved routes.
  • Assist with anesthesia, sedation, catheter placement and other procedures.
  • Assist with reproductive and developmental endpoint collection.
  • Fetal, tissue and reproductive organ collection and fixation; basic necropsy tasks.
  • Collaborate with Study Directors, Veterinary Services, and Operations teams.
  • Cross-train and pursue ongoing skill development.

As a leading Contract Research Organization (CRO), we partner with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life science companies to advance the development of novel therapeutics. Our Developmental & Reproductive Toxicology (DART) team supports regulatory nonclinical studies that evaluate potential effects on fertility, embryo-fetal development, and pre/postnatal development.

We are seeking an Animal Research Technician who is passionate about animal welfare, operational excellence, and scientific rigor to support critical studies that help bring life-changing therapies to patients worldwide.

Position Summary

The Animal Research Technician provides technical and operational support for regulated DART studies conducted in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations, study protocols, and institutional animal care standards. This position performs specialized animal procedures, reproductive assessments, study observations, biological sample collection, and data recording while ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and scientific integrity.

The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced CRO environment supporting multiple studies, and timelines simultaneously.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Support the execution of regulatory DART studies for rats and rabbits, including fertility, embryo-fetal development (EFD), and pre/postnatal developmental studies.
  • Observe animals closely and report changes in health, behavior, appetite, activity, or overall well-being.
  • Perform study procedures according to approved protocols, SOPs, and GLP requirements.
  • Collect biological samples including blood and urine.
  • Administer test materials and treatments using approved routes and techniques.
  • Assist with anesthesia, sedation, catheter placement and other technical procedures according to gestational and developmental timelines.
  • Assist with reproductive and developmental endpoint collection.
  • Perform fetal collection and assessment, tissue and reproductive organ collection and fixation. Other necropsy activities including but not limited to maternal animal necropsy, uterine evaluation, ovarian assessment, visceral examinations, and skeletal evaluations will be performed as r
  • Work closely with Study Directors, Veterinary Services, and Operations teams.
  • Participate in cross training and ongoing skill development across animal research functions.
Collaboration and Operational Support
  • Support multiple concurrent studies while meeting critical project timelines.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of new technicians as assigned.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and animal welfare.

What We Offer

The pay range estimated for this position is $22.25-$36.00 per hour rates. Please note that hourly rates/salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
