Job summary

Miami City Ballet in Miami Beach is seeking a part-time Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat primarily dancers, with occasional services for students and staff. You will plan and administer PT treatments to prevent injuries, restore function, manage pain, and promote health and fitness.

The Physical Therapist reports to the Artistic Director and Lead PT, with hours 2:30 PM to 7:30 PM most weeks and possible weekend coverage during performance season.

Qualifications

• Active Physical Therapy license in Florida.
• Active professional liability insurance.
• Minimum 3 years of PT experience.
• Experience working with dancers; prior dance background preferred.
• Skilled manual therapist with additional certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy diagnosis through patient evaluation.
• Recognize and respond to urgent situations and determine appropriate level of participation or referral.
• Develop individualized dancer treatment plans (exercises, stretching, modalities, hands-on therapy).
• Determine if workers' compensation claims are needed and communicate with staff.
• Maintain patient records and confidentiality.
• Educate patients and staff on injuries and their impact on dance rehearsal.
• Coordinate return-to-dance plans with staff and outside medical professionals.
• Keep treatment areas neat and organized.
• Perform light administrative work.
