Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration, implementation of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and the delivery of quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements, with documented evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Implement a student evaluation system within legal and district guidelines.
  6. Evaluate and record students’ progress regularly and communicate with parents as needed.
  7. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons aligned with subject objectives and prepare substitute plans.
  9. Utilize various media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Be available for counseling students and parents before and after school hours.
  12. Represent the educational program to the community through activities like open house and PTA meetings.
  13. Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Participate with the principal in developing evaluation and assessment systems.
  15. Maintain accurate student records and complete required reports and documentation.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, handle objects, communicate verbally, reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to stand and walk. Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

The noise level is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is required. Remote work arrangements are not available for campus-based positions, as regular attendance at the worksite is essential.
