Job summary

MLGW is seeking a Damage Prevention Coordinator to lead the utility’s program for electric, water, and natural gas operations. You will develop procedures, train staff, and engage with contractors and public officials to reduce damages and improve safety.

The role requires 3–5 years of construction experience, with a focus on regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. Based in Memphis, TN, with field coaching and after-hours responsiveness as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering or Construction Management; 2 years of related experience, or an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience.
• Requires 3–5 years of construction experience, preferably in utility or heavy civil.
• Knowledge of Tennessee Damage Prevention regulations and DIRT reporting; familiarity with Tennessee 811.

Responsibilities

• Own the Damage Prevention Program roadmap, KPIs, and continuous-improvement plan across utilities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain program procedures, performance metrics, and compliance initiatives.
• Coordinate with internal departments to support damage prevention activities, records management, training, and operational effectiveness.
• Monitor and interpret applicable state and federal damage prevention regulations.
• Administer locator and damage prevention training programs; provide field support and coaching.
• Promote One-Call compliance through outreach, engagement, and public awareness initiatives.
