Job summary

Atmos Energy is seeking an on-site damage prevention specialist based in Kentucky to locate and mark gas facilities, read system maps, and coordinate with crews and contractors as needed. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and accurate reporting of incidents.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with at least two years in gas operations or related fields, plus a valid driver’s license and applicable operator qualifications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with two years of experience in natural gas, damage prevention, service, construction or pipeline operations.
  • Must obtain and maintain Operator Qualifications and training within six months; valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to communicate, persuade and influence customers; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with company internet/intranet systems, photo uploads and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and mark company facilities and read maps accurately.
  • Work with company crews and contractors for re-marking to prevent damage.
  • Investigate natural gas facility damages to determine root causes.
  • Maintain maps and records for damage prevention compliance.
  • Complete and maintain required reports and support other operations tasks as needed.
  • Operate and inspect assigned vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Be prepared for stand-by shifts, holidays, weekends, and call-outs.
  • Adhere to safety policies and participate in required safety training.
