Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store (meat, bakery, produce and deli) helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly to team members.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Ability to lead in a safety-conscious organization.
• Mentor team members across SDITs, hourly staff and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentors and coaches team members.
• Implements strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
• Maintains store appearance and product presentation.
• Ensures courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and staff.
• Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to meet needs.
• Promotes career development and succession planning.
• Documents disciplinary actions and makes discharge recommendations.
• Manages P&L, sales, and shrink within the department.
• Models exceptional, fast, and friendly customer service.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and conversations.
• Ensures team training across all job areas.
