This Opportunity
Komline is seeking a hands-on D365 Solution Architect to lead the design and deployment of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management across our manufacturing businesses. This role will own end-to-end solution design, maintain a reusable deployment template, and help acquired businesses adopt consistent, scalable processes.
The Solution Architect will combine architecture leadership with direct configuration, troubleshooting, and delivery support across concurrent implementations. Working closely with the ERP Platform Manager, D365 Program Manager, functional specialists, data engineer, and site subject matter experts, this individual will help build an internal implementation capability targeting five to six deployments annually.
The initial focus will be implementations and post-go-live stabilization. The D365 Program Manager will coordinate delivery plans, while the ERP Platform Manager will own platform priorities and governance. An external service provider will manage ongoing production support and selected technical operations, and the data engineer will lead migration execution. Responsibilities may expand to platform improvements and ongoing support as the deployment portfolio evolves.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery and fit-gap workshops across finance, project accounting, manufacturing, supply chain, and integrations, translating business requirements into an integrated solution design.
- Own the common solution blueprint and configuration standards. Evaluate site requests against the deployment template and document the business case, cost, and support implications of proposed exceptions.
- Resolve cross-functional design decisions involving project costing, production, inventory, and finance in collaboration with specialist consultants and business process owners.
- Configure selected functional areas, troubleshoot complex issues, and review functional designs, extensions, and integration approaches for maintainability and performance.
- Define solution acceptance criteria and lead end-to-end test design, ensuring cross-functional scenarios use representative migrated data and include financial reconciliation.
- Guide migration dependencies and sequencing with the data engineer, ensuring business owners are accountable for mapping decisions and validation rules.
- Develop implementation estimates, identify technical and functional dependencies, and elevate delivery risks to the D365 Program Manager with practical resolution options.
- Coordinate release and environment requirements with technical service providers. Review changes for security, compatibility, and impact on the common deployment template.
- Support cutover rehearsals, go-live readiness decisions, and stabilization. Ensure the support provider receives complete solution documentation and known-issue handoffs.
- Coach functional consultants and site subject matter experts, maintain reusable implementation assets, and incorporate lessons learned into subsequent deployments.
- Drive consistent adoption of a supportable solution, resolve cross-functional issues before cutover, and control design exceptions to improve the efficiency of future rollouts.
Qualifications
- 8 + years of Microsoft Dynamics AX or D365 Finance and Operations experience, including at least three years leading solution design for D365 implementations.
- Experience completing at least three full implementation lifecycles, including a manufacturing deployment and a rollout involving multiple sites or legal entities.
- Broad understanding of finance and supply chain processes, with demonstrated ability to connect manufacturing transactions, inventory valuation, and project financials.
- Hands-on configuration expertise in at least one major functional area and the ability to evaluate standard functionality, independent software vendor (ISV) products, integrations, and custom extensions.
- Experience directing testing, migration readiness, cutover, and operational handoffs.
- Ability to document design decisions clearly, communicate across technical and business teams, and challenge unnecessary customization.
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred
- Experience with engineer-to-order or make-to-order equipment manufacturing, acquisition integration, and template-based deployments.
- Experience with project accounting, manufacturing costing, or percentage-of-completion (POC) implementations.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Microsoft integration technologies.
- Relevant Microsoft Dynamics 365 solution architecture or functional certifications.
