Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a qualified Cytotechnologist to perform routine and special procedures on patient specimens. The role involves microscopic screening of gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides, including imager-assisted analysis.

The candidate should have a minimum Bachelor’s degree (ASCP eligible) and preferably CT (ASCP) Cytotechnologist experience. Responsibilities also include specimen preparation, equipment operation, and adherence to safety and quality guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in ASCP eligible program or bachelor's degree and one year certificate program trained
• Preferred CT (ASCP) Clinical cytotechnologist experience

Responsibilities

• Independently performs routine and special procedures on patient specimens.
• Microscopically screens gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides containing cells from all body sites.
• Microscopically screens gynecologic slides utilizing imager technology.
• Prepares and processes specimens and assists pathologists and clinicians with aspirates following policies and safety guidelines.
• Operates, calibrates, checks and maintains instrumentation and ensures quality control.
