Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Cytotechnologist at St. Vincent Medical Center Medical Office Building 2 to perform staining, mounting, and microscopic evaluation of cells to detect precancerous and infectious conditions.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Science, Cytotechnology Program completion, and CT certification. You will support pathologists with data, maintain quality and safety, and contribute to a compassionate, patient-centered lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science: Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Laboratory Sciences, required.
• Completion of Cytotechnology Program, required.
• Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP), is required

Responsibilities

• Provides patient clinical data or microscopic findings to assist pathologists in the preparation of pathology reports.
• Mounts, stains, and examines smears under a microscope to evaluate specimen quality and reports findings to Pathologists.
• Maintains effective laboratory operations by adhering to standards of specimen collection, preparation, or laboratory safety.
• Classifies and distinguishes abnormal cell structures and reports abnormalities to Pathologists for further examination.
• Documents data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into the hospital system for patient records.
• Monitors inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents used, and places orders for replacements as required.
• Other duties as assigned
