Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health's Richmond Health Source Shared Services seeks a Cytotechnologist to stain, mount and study cells under a microscope to detect precancerous, malignant and infectious conditions. The role includes performing complex lab tests on patients of all ages following established protocols and ensuring accurate pathology reports.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Science (Biology/Chemistry/MLS) and complete a Cytotechnology program, plus CT certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Laboratory Sciences) required.
• Completion of Cytotechnology Program required.
• Three years of Clinical Lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides data to assist pathologists in preparing pathology reports.
• Mounts, stains, and examines smears under a microscope to evaluate specimen quality and reports findings.
• Maintains laboratory operations by following specimen collection, preparation, and safety standards.
• Classifies abnormal cell structures and reports to Pathologists for further review.
• Documents data from analysis into the hospital system for patient records.
• Monitors inventory and supplies, placing orders for replacements as needed.
