Labcorp in Torrance, CA is seeking a Cytogenetics Technologist II to join our team. This role focuses on Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) testing and analysis, including wet-lab procedures and interpretation for hematologic and FFPE specimens.

Key responsibilities include performing tissue culture, karyotyping, reagent prep, instrument troubleshooting, assessing specimen acceptability, and reporting results to support accurate patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Three years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• One year of experience performing FISH wet lab and FISH analysis.
• California Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License.

Responsabilités

• Perform routine procedures including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
