Hartford HealthCare's Hartford Hospital is seeking a Cytogenetics Laboratory Specialist to perform, interpret, and correlate cytogenetic tests under established protocols to aid in physician diagnosis and treatment. The role requires problem-solving skills to resolve instrument issues and ensure timely results in a high‑quality lab.

Eligible candidates hold ASCP CG certification, a biology/chemistry degree, and at least one year of experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biological science or chemistry, OR a combination of biology/chemistry coursework totaling 30 semester hours.
ASCP certification in cytogenetics (CG) is required.
Minimum 1 year of related laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing following established protocols to assist diagnosis and treatment.
Interpret and correlate cytogenetic results with patient history and clinical information.
Comply with OSHA and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe lab environment.
Provide education/support to students and staff as needed.
Collaborate with team to ensure quality service and continuous improvement.
Demonstrate age-appropriate competencies and adapt to variable testing schedules.
Participate in process improvement and HH values.
Maintain professional appearance and proactive communication with colleagues.
Complete required training and competencies on time.
Engage in daily huddles to identify areas for improvement.
