Job summary

Northampton County is seeking a Caseworker 2 – Children, Youth & Families – General Protective Services Intake to provide a full range of social services for children and families in need of assessment and services.

The position reports to the County Casework Supervisor or Program Specialist/Manager and involves engaging families, conducting comprehensive assessments, and coordinating services with external agencies. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience as County Caseworker 1 or completion of County Social Casework Intern program.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, counseling, social work or related social sciences or equivalent with 12 credits.
• Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license with acceptable driving record.
• One year of full-time professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency.

Responsibilities

• Engage all family members with cultural sensitivity to assess safety and risks.
• Provide direct services or referrals to address client needs.
• Prepare documents in line with federal/state laws and policies.
• Arrange transportation and supervise visits for children placed externally.
• Participate in court hearings and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Maintain and review case assessments with supervisor.
