Job summary

The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America is offering a 2027 Summer Internship in Digital & Technology – Cybersecurity, a paid 10-week program beginning May 27, 2027. Interns will gain hands-on experience in daily security operations, incident response concepts, and cybersecurity governance while engaging with senior leaders across Guardian’s offices.

Locations include Bethlehem, PA; New York, NY; and Holmdel, NJ, with opportunities to work on real-time, business-critical needs and to learn

Qualifications

• Desire to be curious and analyze anomalies
• Desire & passion to learn and grow in cybersecurity
• Customer-focused orientation
• Interest in developing detections to identify potentially malicious activities and understand what happened and why
• Excellent organization skills, highly detail-oriented, strong on workflow processes
• Interest in cybersecurity governance and compliance activities, including documenting processes, supporting risk assessments, tracking remediation actions, developing metrics, control monitoring, and assisting with compliance activities

Responsibilities

• Be a self-starter – enjoy rolling up sleeves and getting things done, high energy, strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and creativity
• Monitor & analyze events from various SOC intake sources (SIEM, ticketing system, email, chat, phone) and triage per SOP while applying modern threat landscape knowledge
• Provide tier one operational & analysis support for incidents and outages across multiple technologies (SIEM, firewalls, EDR, DLP, etc.)
• Monitor & analyze security dashboards and process corresponding events
• Partner with team members and other technology teams to resolve internal customer issues and ensure timely remediation
• Execute daily security technology administration functions and support governance/compliance activities
• Learn about Guardian’s purpose, values, offerings and keep up to date with emerging threats and regulatory requirements
