Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. is seeking a Cybersecurity Lead to run the Security Operations Center (SOC). You will oversee threat detection, incident response, and the performance of a SOC team, reporting to the Director of IT & Cybersecurity.

The role requires hands-on expertise with SIEM, EDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management, plus leadership in a fast-growing startup environment in Playa Vista, CA. You will drive proactive security operations, coordinate with IT and compliance, and guide

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.
• TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC GCIH, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus.
• Proficiency with security tools (SIEM, EDR/XDR, IDP/IDS, CASB/SASE, vulnerability scanners).
• Strong networking knowledge and OS experience across Windows/MacOS/Linux.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with leadership in high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership and Development: Manage SOC analysts and engineers, mentoring and evaluating performance.
• Incident Detection and Response: Oversee event monitoring, triage, escalation, containment, eradication, and post-incident review.
• Threat Intelligence and Hunting: Conduct proactive threat hunting and malware analysis; integrate threat intel.
• Process and Tool Optimization: Tune SIEM/EDR/IDS, update policies, playbooks, automation to reduce false positives.
• Metrics and Reporting: Develop KPIs, dashboards, and executive summaries on threats and posture.
• Strategic Planning & Compliance: Contribute to SOC strategy, tool evaluations, risk assessments, audits.
• Stakeholder Communication: Escalate incidents and coordinate with internal teams and partners.
• Operational Oversight: Ensure 24/7 SOC coverage and hands-on analysis when needed.
• Compliance Support: Aid with maintaining CMMC, ISO 27001, and other accreditations.
