Community Financial System, Inc. (CFSI) is seeking a Security Internship with the Information Security team in Upstate NY.

The role involves assisting with daily security log reviews, phishing mailbox monitoring, and testing new security initiatives while helping with access provisioning and risk assessments. Ideal candidates are pursuing an Associate, Bachelor’s or Master’s in information security or IT, aged 18+, and able to work 40 hours per week during Spring 2027–Summer 2027.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills with a working knowledge of basic information security and IT terms and processes.
• Analytical mindset to solve problems.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team and remain on task.
• Must have valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist Information Security team with daily log/alert reviews and follow-up investigations.
• Monitor and analyze the phishing mailbox; escalate as needed.
• Test and document new security initiatives.
• Assist with user access provisioning and de-provisioning processes.
• Support risk assessments tied to vendor management and new technologies.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws/regulations and ensure policy compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department head.
