Job summary

Whitaker IT is seeking a proactive Cybersecurity Engineer to join our security team in Houston. The role focuses on hands-on threat detection, incident response, and expanding the CrowdStrike ecosystem across EDR/XDR, SIEM, and cloud security.

You will collaborate with senior security engineers, manage security tooling and governance, and drive remediation efforts while supporting SOX and SOC processes. This is a hands-on position with exposure to Azure environments and data governance

Qualifications

• Hands-on CrowdStrike EDR/XDR and SIEM operations.
• Experience monitoring threats and coordinating remediation.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and Azure security administration.
• Experience supporting SOX, SOC audits, or security control validation.
• Strong scripting in PowerShell or Python.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary responder for security alerts, incidents, and investigations.
• Monitor dashboards, analyze threats, and drive remediation.
• Lead initial incident response activities with internal teams and providers.
• Operate and optimize CrowdStrike Falcon platform and related modules.
• Support data security posture management using Rubrik DSPM/DAG or similar tools.
• Administer and secure Microsoft Entra ID and Azure environments.
• Assist with SOX compliance activities and evidence collection.
• Maintain audit-ready security documentation and evidence repositories.
