Job summary

Howard University seeks an Information Systems Technology and Security leader for the RITA UARC. You will shape security policy, collaborate with Enterprise Technology Services, and guide cyber defense across DoD-aligned systems. The role reports to the CTO and supports secure research networks.

The candidate will tackle risk assessments, incident response, and security documentation while advancing IT infrastructure in a federally compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
• 5 years of relevant experience preferred in information security or IT fields.
• Experience implementing compliance frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, SOC2).
• Knowledge of DoD security standards and CMMC is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee information security for RITA UARC, aligning with Howard University ETS and DoD requirements.
• Develop IT policies and procedures for secure operations of research networks.
• Lead security risk assessments, incident response, and threat hunting activities.
• Coordinate with ETS to maintain government security, privacy compliance, and records.
