Qualifications

• Active U.S. government clearance at Secret level or above; Top Secret preferred.
• CompTIA Security+ strongly preferred; certification within ~90 days if not held.
• Hands-on IT systems administration with government/compliance experience.
• Experience with RMF, authorization activities, risk remediation.
• Experience with Windows environments, AD, logging, vulnerability scanning, and endpoint security.

Responsibilities

Job description

The client is seeking an accomplished technology executive to serve as Chief Information Officer and lead information security initiatives. The role will strengthen cyber risk controls and oversee the protection of critical systems within a purpose-driven, highly technical environment, with an emphasis on bridging regulatory requirements with practical IT administration and secure system design. The position provides broad exposure across compliance, classified systems, vulnerability management, authorization activities, and infrastructure security.

The Chief Information Officer role is responsible for ongoing protection and security administration of designated classified and compliance-sensitive systems, ensuring adherence to required cybersecurity standards and controls. Duties include translating government and cybersecurity compliance requirements into practical system configurations and administrative controls, developing and maintaining authorization documentation, assessing security impacts of system changes, and supporting ongoing RMF and compliance activities. The role also involves conducting system audits and vulnerability assessments, supporting continuous monitoring, reviewing logs, validating security controls, coordinating remediation, and administering and securing Windows-based systems, networks, identity services, endpoint protections, and related infrastructure.

To be considered, candidates must hold an active U.S. government security clearance at the Secret level or above; Top Secret credentials are preferred. CompTIA Security+ is strongly preferred at hire, with candidates expected to obtain the required certification within approximately 90 days if not already certified. The client expects strong cybersecurity compliance knowledge paired with hands-on IT systems administration experience, including the ability to implement compliance requirements as technical solutions; demonstrated background supporting information assurance programs, authorization activities, compliance assessments, risk remediation, vulnerability oversight, and preparation of system security records; and experience working with Windows environments and related technologies such as networking, Active Directory, centralized logging, vulnerability scanning, and endpoint security. This position is on-site in Camas, WA, five days per week initially.
