Job summary

Howard University’s UARC DevOps team seeks an Applications Analyst to own the end-to-end lifecycle of strategic research software used across nine partner institutions. You’ll assess needs, evaluate vendor tools, and implement integrations within a secure Azure environment.

You will collaborate with faculty and PIs, manage vendors focusing on HPC and security standards (NIST 800-171, CMMC), and develop APIs or automation scripts in Python or JavaScript to enhance research tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS or related field.
• 2+ years in applications analysis, system integration, or software support.
• Experience in higher education or government-contracting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support for consortium applications across nine schools.
• Gather functional/technical requirements with faculty and PIs.
• Design data bridges between systems and central UARC repository for secure sharing.
• Evaluate vendors aligned with aerospace, defense, or HPC needs.
• Develop web interfaces, APIs, and automation scripts (Python/JS).
• Ensure compliance with NIST 800-171 and CMMC security standards.
• Create training materials and documentation for multi-institution users.
• Perform regular audits to optimize performance in Azure.
