Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer to join the DevOps team in Hanover, MD, delivering cyber training solutions across locations. The role covers full software lifecycle, collaboration with instructors, developers, and sysadmins, and working across diverse applications and infra.

The team values broad technical expertise and cross-functional delivery. Minimum education includes a Master/Bachelor/Associate or equivalent, with strong experience in Ruby, Java, C++, and web UI technologies.

Qualifications

• Experience with one or more listed languages (Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Java, C++).
• Proficient web UI design using HTML/CSS, AJAX, JSON/XML, JavaScript/TypeScript, JQuery.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB preferred).
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain software in cyber training environments.
• Analyze requirements and develop technical solutions for mission needs.
• Develop UI, backend services, APIs, automation tools, and data processing.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and software development life cycle.
• Configure and maintain apps in virtualized and containerized environments.
• Develop and maintain databases, dataflows, scripts, and automation.
• Support realistic cyber training environments and simulations.
• Perform testing, debugging, validation, and analysis of results.
• Evaluate new technologies and propose improvements for applications and processes.
• Document designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with instructors, developers, sysadmins, and other teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve applications and user experiences.
