Job summary

Rackspace Technology is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Manager to lead a newly formed observability and vulnerability management team. You will guide security engineering, tooling, and incident response, ensuring proper deployment and risk reduction across networks and platforms.

The role emphasizes strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and strong execution in a hybrid San Antonio environment with potential remote work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline required.
• 10+ years of relevant technical work experience required.
• 4+ years of relevant technical management experience required.
• Experience owning enterprise security tools, vulnerability management programs, and cross-functional remediation outcomes.
• Hands-on depth to evaluate deployment, integration, tuning, monitoring, and risk reduction.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical teams responsible for security engineering, security operations tooling, vulnerability management, detection engineering, incident investigation, or infrastructure/cloud security.
• Manage or operate enterprise security tools such as EDR, NDR, IDPS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, exposure management platforms, SIEM/SOAR integrations, cloud security tooling, asset inventory/CAASM, and security monitoring platforms.
• Assess whether security tools are deployed correctly, producing telemetry, integrated with downstream platforms, tuned, and delivering intended outcomes.
• Translate technical findings into operational plans, remediation priorities, risk decisions, and executive reporting.
• Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.
• Prioritize customer needs and satisfaction through proactive problem-solving and commitment to customer success.
• Adapt to dynamic customer needs with innovative solutions.
• Participate in business continuity planning, data loss prevention, and fraud prevention.
• Identify security architecture, goals and metrics aligned with corporate strategy.
• Develop and implement global security policy, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
• Oversee incident response planning and investigations, and assist with disciplinary and legal matters as necessary.
• Work with outside consultants for independent security audits.
