Job summary

C Spire is seeking a Cyber Security Intern for Summer 2026 at our Ridgeland, MS corporate office. You will join the Security team to assist in protecting networks, data, and systems while gaining hands-on experience in threat research, prevention, and incident response.

You will work with cross-functional teams to maintain a strong security posture, learn governance processes, and develop practical skills using common tools.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an accredited college or university and good standing.
• Must be at least 18 years old and housing in the Jackson, MS metro area.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of security processes and preventative controls.
• Analyze systems for vulnerabilities and research potential threats.
• Support incident response activities and learn escalation procedures.
• Collaborate with operational teams to maintain security initiatives.
• Provide support to the designated department with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Complete assignments from the Manager and communicate effectively across departments.
• Use Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting.

You’ll gain experience in identifying threats, researching vulnerabilities, and supporting incident response activities across the enterprise. Working with operational teams across the business, you will help maintain a strong security posture through prevention, detection, and governance. This position is for a Summer Internship in 2026, located at our Corporate office in Ridgeland, MS.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development of security processes and preventative controls.
• Analyze systems for vulnerabilities and participate in research of potential threats.
• Support incident response activities and learn escalation procedures.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure security initiatives are maintained.
• Provide support to the designated department while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
• Perform and complete assignments given by your Manager.
• Communicate effectively in written and oral formats across departments.
• Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting.
• Collaborate with other interns in the summer program.

• Active enrollment and good standing at an accredited college or university.
• Sucvsuccessful completion of at least 12 credit hours in computer technology or math-related coursework.
• A strong interest in cyber security, information security, or a closely related field.
• Housing in the Jackson, MS metro area.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

We will give special consideration to candidates who have:

• Previous coursework or hands-on experience in security, networking, or systems administration.
• Familiarity with basic cyber security tools and concepts.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Interns must be able to adapt and perform in a rapidly changing work environment. Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use a computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing a computer screen.
