Air Force Civilian Service seeks a civilian Cyber Security Branch Chief, GG-2210-15, at National Capital Region, Fairfax, VA. This executive billet oversees security architecture for the DoD's premier intelligence-sharing coalition and coordinates 26 partner networks and the Trusted Network Environment (TNE).

It requires TS/SCI clearance and a Bachelor’s degree; advanced degrees and certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess a TS/SCI clearance.
• Bachelor of Science degree highly desired; advanced degrees and professional certifications preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of software design principles, development of functional/non-functional requirements.
• Knowledge of DoD and national-level doctrine, regulations, and policies for US intelligence information systems.
• IA certification is a condition of employment; IAM III certification required later.

Responsibilities

• Oversee security architecture for the DoD's intelligence-sharing coalition.
• Negotiate Secret-level network integration policies with allied defense ministries.
• Direct enterprise-wide defensive operations (CSSP) and act as cyber authority for a 3-star command.
• Ensure secure sharing of warfighting intelligence across the DoD Information Network (DODIN).

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full-time Cyber Security Branch Chief, GG-2210-15, located at the Concepts, Development, and Management Office (SAF/CDM) at National Capital Region, Fairfax, VA.

This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position aligned under authorities of Section 1601, Chapter 83 of Title 10, United States Code and DoD Instruction 1400.25-V2007.

Depending on the type of position you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

At its core, the Cyber Security Branch Chief for the US BICES-X enterprise isn't just a technical leadership role—it is a critical intersection of global cyber defense and international diplomacy. This executive billet oversees the security architecture for the DoD's premier intelligence-sharing coalition, commanding the defense of 26 distinct foreign partner networks and the highly complex Trusted Network Environment (TNE). You aren't just managing IT risk; you are negotiating Secret-level network integration policies directly with allied defense ministries, directing enterprise-wide defensive operations (CSSP), and serving as the definitive cyber authority for 3-star command. Ultimately, this position is about holding the line on national security—ensuring the US and its allies can seamlessly share warfighting intelligence during global crises without ever compromising the DoD Information Network (DODIN).

• Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program
• Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.
• A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution is highly desired. Advanced degree(s) and professional certification(s) are preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of software design principles, methods, and approaches; in-depth understanding and experience with development of software functional and non-functional requirements
• Knowledge of complex systems software and systems development life cycles, including systems documentation, design development, configuration management, cost analysis, systems integration, and testing
• Knowledge of agency, AF, DoD, and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned programs and/or projects involving U.S. intelligence information systems; understanding of JCIDS requirements management processes and Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE) program goals and objectives
• Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent must achieve Level I Information Assurance Technical (IAT) certification within six months of assignment. A waiver may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
• Position is designated under DoDD 8140.01 as IT (Cyberspace) combined operate and maintain with oversee and govern. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain IAM III certification.
