Job summary

CESI is seeking a highly motivated Cyber Range Engineer to join the Range Operations team working in the Persistent Cyber Training Environment - Operations Group (PCTE-OG). The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced cyber training environments using Windows, Linux, and VMware in lab environments located onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 6+ years of related experience.
• 5+ years with CNO/CNE/CND platforms and cyber training.
• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification.
• Networking, cloud/VMware, and RedHat/Linux/Windows certifications.
• Windows and Linux operating systems experience.
• VMware virtualization experience.
• Troubleshoot DNS, routing, and TCP/IP connectivity.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, build, and execution of cybersecurity training in cyber range environments.
• Build and configure cyber range content (VMs, virtual networks, accounts, tooling, injects).
• Implement and operate offensive and defensive training content with tools and sensors.
• Provide event support during execution windows and troubleshoot issues.
• Configure Windows and Linux hosts, patching and baseline configuration.
• Deliver virtual infrastructure and network support (VMware, DNS, TCP/IP) and diagnose issues.
• Coordinate with content developers and stakeholders to track tasks and communicate status.
• Develop documentation (build notes, runbooks, diagrams, after-action inputs).
• Identify repeat issues and propose automation or process improvements.
