Job summary

By Light Professional IT Services is seeking a Cyber Range Engineer to join the Range Operations team within the Persistent Cyber Training Environment – Operations Group. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced cyber training environments for Windows and Linux systems in virtualized infrastructures.

The candidate will build cyber range content, configure networks, and support offensive and defensive training content under design guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 6 years of related experience.
• 5+ years in cyber operations, training, and CPT coordination.
• Current DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification.
• Cloud/VMware and Red Hat/Linux experience.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, build, and execution of cybersecurity training and validation events in cyber range environments.
• Build and configure cyber range content (VMs, networks, tooling) to meet objectives.
• Implement and operate offensive/defensive training content with red cell tools and sensors.
• Provide event support during execution windows and troubleshoot issues.
• Configure and maintain Windows and Linux hosts, patching and baseline configurations.
• Deliver virtual infrastructure and network support (VMware, DNS, TCP/IP) and diagnose connectivity issues.
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to capture requirements and report status.
• Create and update runbooks, diagrams, and after-action inputs for repeatable events.
• Identify repeat issues and suggest automation or configuration improvements.
