Job summary

Cooley LLP in the United States seeks an Associate Development Manager for the Cyber/Data/Privacy group to support staffing, development, and integration of associates. You will work with practice group leaders and the Legal Talent team to balance workloads and ensure staffing aligns with client needs and professional growth.

The role also includes coordinating performance reviews, tracking metrics, supporting hiring, and driving training with Professional Development and Legal Education teams.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of direct staffing and work allocation experience in a large law firm or professional services organization.
• Senior level candidates with seven or more years of experience and two or more years in exempt/management roles.
• JD degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the work allocation process for associates within the group with staffing and partners in charge.
• Monitor workloads and development and allocate new matters equitably to reflect clients’ needs and goals.
• Track and analyze associate metrics including availability and utilization to ensure productivity targets.
• Coordinate with Legal Talent to identify staffing needs and support hiring efforts.
• Support performance reviews and deliver timely, quality reviews; coach and implement feedback.
• Facilitate onboarding, integration, and mentoring for new hires; develop onboarding schedules.
