Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II with authority to accept or reject welds on structural steel, pipe, and fabricated assemblies, inspecting to AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX or API 1104 as required.

Responsibilities include witnessing welder qualification tests, reviewing WPS/PQR, directing NDT, writing inspection reports, and signing documents relied on by the engineer of record and building official.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspection experience.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification is a strong plus; ability to defend rejection decisions and document them for retesting.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records; witness qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing; write inspection and nonconformance reports.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection; sign reports for the engineer of record and building official.
